The Literacies That Define Modern Life
October 18–24, 2026
A five-day series of public programs, partnerships, and community celebrations hosted by the Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation designed to advance literacy, opportunity, and civic engagement across Philadelphia.
Through free public programs and resources, we will highlight the power of digital literacy across five themes:

Financial Literacy
A focus on digital financial literacy as a path to economic security — online banking, fintech tools, and access to public benefits.

Health Literacy
Health equity and access — telehealth navigation, online health portals, and aging and digital health tools.

Civic Literacy
As a trusted civic convener, the Library explores civil discourse, participatory democracy, and navigating information in digital spaces.

Workforce Development & Information Literacy
Job-search platforms, AI-assisted career readiness, and online learning — the skills to access, assess, and apply information for lifelong success.
05
Digital Foundations & Future Innovation
The forefront of future literacy: youth digital creativity, AI literacy, coding, and emerging technology access.
