Finale Celebration: An Evening of Art and Performance

The Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation presents the One Book, One Philadelphia Finale Celebration

First 125 people to arrive onsite receive a free copy of the book.

This Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we’re closing out One Book, One Philadelphia with a night you won’t soon forget.

Join us for an electric evening of art, performance, and conversation inspired by this year’s selection, Our Missing Hearts by celebrated Asian American author Celeste Ng. Think dazzling visual art, thrilling performances, and a few big ideas that’ll stick with you long after you leave the building.

The One Book, One Philadelphia Finale Celebration explores the themes at the core of Ng’s novel: censorship, cultural erasure, identity, and the many ways communities push back through storytelling, protest, and artistic expression.

The night unfolds in three unforgettable acts:

Art Exhibit – Step into a curated showcase of work by local artists whose pieces bring the novel’s themes roaring to life.

Performances – A series of short original performances by artists across disciplines, including spoken word, movement, and live interpretation, bringing the book’s themes to life in their own distinct ways.

Closing Remarks – Celeste Ng herself takes the stage to close out the 2026 season with final words that are sure to resonate.

Whether you’ve been with us from page one or you’re just discovering Our Missing Hearts, this is the celebration you don’t want to miss. Come for the art. Stay for the performances. Leave inspired.
