Malcolm Gladwell Joins CBS’ Michelle Miller In Philadelphia For a Provocative Conversation About Social Epidemics

On October 24th, the Free Library Foundation Author Series brings Gladwell and Miller together to discuss his new book, new forms of social engineering and ongoing efforts to tinker with ideas, trends and viruses.

PHILADELPHIA, October 17, 2024 – Join the Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation at historic Congregation Rodeph Shalom, on October 24th, for an evening with Malcolm Gladwell, in conversation with ‘CBS Saturday Morning’ co-host Michelle Miller. Twenty-five years after his groundbreaking The Tipping Point, Gladwell returns with Revenge of the Tipping Point, a timely new volume for this era of misinformation, social contagion and mistrust. The event begins at 7:30 pm on Thursday, October 24th, and tickets are still available at https://freelibraryfoundation.org/

For this thought-provoking evening, Miller and Gladwell will examine the ways in which we seek to influence and shape social phenomena, often with disastrous consequences. A copy of Revenge of the Tipping Point is included in the ticket price.

Through a series of riveting stories, Gladwell’s latest work traces the rapid, and seemingly unstoppable, rise of new and troubling forms of social engineering. Revenge of the Tipping Point takes us to Los Angeles to meet the world’s most successful bank robbers, rediscovers a forgotten TV show that changed the world, offers an alternative history of two of the biggest epidemics of our day: COVID and the opioid crisis, and much more. Throughout, Gladwell skillfully mixes storytelling and social science to create a guide for making sense of the contagions of our modern world.

Malcolm Gladwell is the author of seven New York Times bestsellers. He is also the cofounder of Pushkin Industries, an audio-content company that produces podcasts and audiobooks. Gladwell has been included in the TIME 100 Most Influential People list and touted as one of Foreign Policy’s Top Global Thinkers.

Michelle Miller is an award-winning journalist and author, and co-host of ‘CBS Saturday Morning.’ Miller’s work is regularly featured on ‘CBS Mornings,’ ‘CBS News Sunday Morning,’ ‘CBS Evening News,’ and ‘48 Hours,’ and she anchors CBS News 24/7’s ‘Eye On America.’ Her reporting has earned her an Emmy, an Edward R. Murrow, and a Gracie award, among others.
