The Free Library of Philadelphia is much more than a collection of books and resources. It is a vibrant hub where ideas flourish, connections are made, and lives are transformed. The City of Philadelphia provides funds for the operations of the Free Library, and through the generosity of individual and institutional gifts, The Foundation supports many of the Library’s incredible programs and activities in and around the Free Library’s 54 locations in Philadelphia as well as the Rosenbach Library and Museum located in Philadelphia. The Free Library and the Rosenbach are among the most widely used educational and cultural institutions in Philadelphia and boast a worldwide reach.

From early literacy initiatives that ensure our youngest learners have a strong start, to workforce development programs that equip individuals with the skills needed for a brighter future, the impact of your support is profound and far-reaching.Programs like offering access to millions of digital and physical materials; 25,000 yearly programs and services; free public computers and extensive Wi-Fi, including neighborhood Hotspots; and rich special collections. With millions of in-person visits and millions more online annually.

Our Foundation plays a crucial role in supporting this mission. Through the generosity of our donors, partners, and volunteers, we are able to fund essential library services and innovative programs that reach every corner of Philadelphia. As we navigate the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century, the Free Library remains committed to being a beacon of learning and a place where everyone is welcome. We are continually evolving to meet the needs of our diverse community, embracing new technologies, and expanding our digital offerings to ensure that knowledge and information are accessible to all.
