Authors of What’s Next: A Backstage Pass to The West Wing Coming, This Week, to The Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation’s Author Event Series

Twenty-five years after The West Wings TV premiere, the public is invited to a conversation with authors and co-stars Melissa Fitzgerald and Mary McCormack at Parkway Central Library on the evening of September 11th

PHILADELPHIA, September 9, 2024 – Join the Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation at Parkway Central Library for a behind-the-scenes look into the creation and legacy of The West Wing, as told by authors and cast-members Melissa Fitzgerald and Mary McCormack. On September 22nd, 1999, The West Wing premiered to immediate acclaim. Audiences and critics alike lauded the new show, which ran for seven seasons and became a worldwide hit. In What’s Next: A Backstage Pass to The West Wing, cast members Melissa Fitzgerald and Mary McCormack pulls back the curtain of the Bartlet White House and its committed staff. Melissa Fitzgerald is an actor, producer, and social justice advocate. As an actor, she is best known for her role as Carol on The West Wing. Since 2013, she has championed justice system reform at All Rise, engaging the public in the expansion of treatment courts and advancing justice system responses for individuals impacted by substance use and mental health disorders.

Mary McCormack is an actor, producer, and activist. A Tony-nominated Broadway actor known for a diversity of roles across film, television, and theater, Mary is also an outspoken advocate for a host of causes, from social justice and women’s rights to veterans’ issues and criminal justice reform.
